COMMIT and ACT
COLOMBIa

About Us
Commit and Act is dedicated to helping health care workers in Colombia and other parts of the world support people struggling with trauma especially women who are single mothers and are victims of domestic and gender-based violence as well as mental health difficulties. Health care workers are provided with training in an evidence-based therapeutic approach called Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). Our consultants, contractors and employees are also given ongoing supervision and support. We also conduct research on our projects so that we can refine and improve the services that we provide based on data and participants' evaluations.
Our Top Three Priorities
1. Training professionals (e.g., health workers, community leaders, police, teachers) to apply ACT and PROSOCIAL with individuals, groups, and families.

2. Providing INDIVIDUAL, GROUP AND COACHING SESSIONS to women who are single mothers and have experienced sexual violence or domestic abuse

3. DONATE to the women the Workbook “Manual de Costura para Mujeres Rotas” (Workbook to put together women who have been broken) so they can deepen their inner work towards healing

Empower
Growth
The main goal of Project Colombia is to provide psychological relief from domestic violence to women in Colombia so they can be empowered to resume their lives and support their children. At this time we are helping a group of 355 women from Chia, Cundinamarca, a town an hour away from Bogota, Colombia. The liaison of this project is Andrea Villarreal, a psychologist who has been in contact with this group for the past 4 years.

This group is funded by generous independent donations and the high school volunteer hours that we offer. Below is an example of the fundraising event led by a high school student who participated in our "Young Leaders" Fundraising program in exchange for 35 volunteer hours.
